About Institute

St. Joseph’s College of Engineering has a 31-year history of academic excellence, offering 11 UG and 7 PG programs with a total intake of over 1,570 students annually. Ranked among the Top 10 institutions for Anna University ranks, the college has produced 1,541 rank holders, including 57 Gold and 55 Silver medalists, and achieved the 1st position in ranks three times (2010, 2019, 2021) among 500 affiliated institutions. Since 2017, it has been recognized by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and is classified in the ‘Elite Band’ in the ARIIA 2021 for innovation and achievements. The college is accredited with an A+ grade (3.46 out of 4.00) by NAAC and has held Autonomous Status under Anna University since 2020, with nine UG programs accredited since 2003.


The college is also recognized as a ‘Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation’ (SIRO) by the Government of India and has seven departments approved as research centers by Anna University, where 174 scholars are currently pursuing Ph.D. and MS degrees, with 149 Ph.D. degrees already awarded. Research efforts have resulted in a Scopus h-Index of 55 and a Web of Science h-Index of 50. Known as the ‘Best Exam Preparatory Centre’ for the Business English Certificate (BEC) exam by Cambridge ESOL, St. Joseph’s College of Engineering has been a leader in this category in South Asia for eight years. Faculty members have completed 45 sponsored research projects totaling Rs. 2.83 Crores and 40 training programs valued at Rs. 54 Lakhs, funded by organizations such as AICTE, DST, and SERB. Additionally, the institution received a FIST grant of Rs. 71 Lakhs from the Department of Science and Technology.
